@ Mandal Play Therapy

Every child is unique and special,  sometimes they experience problems with feelings or behaviours that cause disruption to their lives and the lives of those around them. Parents  and careres  may delay seeking help and support, as they worry that they will be misunderstood, blamed or judged for their children’s behaviour. Feeling responsible for a child’s distress or problems is a normal and important  part  of caring and parenting. The fact that you have the commitment to start addressing the difficulty is a significant part of helping your child and beginning the theraputic process. Signs you may recognise in your child could include: prolonged and intense discomfort, emotional and behavioral outbursts, impacting on other areas of their development, their everday living, relatioinships, their family unit and overall well being.
At Mandala Play Therapy it is our intention to work with the child within  their whole system (family, school, other allied health professionals) to provide the best supports possible to adresss the presenting problems and underlying issues. No worry is to big or small to discuss @ Mandala Play Therapy. Our therapist can  identify what intervention is most appropriate for you and or your family at this time.  Be it directive, non directive or family play theray. Mandal Play Therapy has had great success in working with a child individually in Play therapy and then transitioning into Filial Therapy to work with the whole family.

Theraputic Assessment

Mandal Play Therapy

At Mandal Play Therapy, every child is respected as  unique and  individual. As such, theraputic assessments, both standardised and non standardised are conducted to assess and plan theraputic inteventions and the most appropriate  treatment plan. The therapist will work with the  family or referrer agency to agree on what assessments will best suit the child, family and their  present needs.  A combination of observations, child developmental play based assessments and  a play therapy session are usually included in the assessment process. Therapeutically assessing a child enables the emotional, social, behavioural and developmental needs to be considered and explored. Parents/careers will attend review, recommendation and closure meeting to discuss the progress, outcomes and recommendations for their child. Our therapist can also attend care team meetings and write NDIS reports and recommendations if needed with prior notice.
